It is hard to believe that the semester is halfway over. This has been the hardest semester I have ever had. I have not had very many tests, just several little assignments every week. But the future is looking bright. I will hopefully pass all my classes this semester. I only have two mid-terms to take this next week. So I should have a little time to study over fall break.
Isn’t it wonderful how when our plans don’t go the way we planned that we can know that God has a plan that is far better than the plan we had???I see this both in big things and small things in my life. Over the past few weeks I have known that I was entirely too busy and this past week I was trying to get a position in the Rotaract Club (a student organization at LSUS) as president. It seemed to me to be an excellent thing to be able to put on my resume. But, through a turn of events I didn’t get the position or any position for that matter. So without that option before me I can now focus on the things that I should have been focused on all along. It is so easy for us to get caught up in the immediate things and not think long-term. So for any of you reading this blog I would encourage you to take into consideration the things that you do and the decisions that you make. There are many things that are good to be doing and good to be involved in. But what we should want for our lives is what is BEST. We can’t do everything so we must be careful the things that we choose, and the decisions we make.

Good outlook on life. It's probably better that you didn't get that position, because that would be adding many more responsibilities and stress than you probably already have! Now you can devote that time and energy to your classes, which is more important in the long run. Good luck on your midterms!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Landon, truly everything happens for a reason!
ReplyDeleteSince I am a classic overachiever, clubs and organizations use to be very important to me. However, the older I get, the less “joining” I want to do. Since this is my first semester at LSUS I didn’t want to get bogged down with meetings and committees, I just wanted to do my best in all of my classes. I can’t tell you how freeing it is not to have to worry about running for office, or making it to meetings on time. This is the first school year that I’ve never been involved in any club, and I must say, I really don’t miss the hoopla. Maybe next semester I’ll be in the “joining” mood.
Good Luck on your mid-terms, and enjoy the rest of your break.

Things do always happen for a reason, but of course we don't see it that way until after the fact. Seems like you already have more than enough on your plate. God never puts more on us than we can handle. Your not getting the position could be His way of telling you can't handle adding more to your plate just yet.
ReplyDeleteI am glad this semester is also over; I have so much anticipation for next semester. Yes, the Lord does have a plan for each of our lives. I am having a little trouble with this exact thing but I'll be alright. I try not to involve myself with much because I know I need alot of time for school. The less the better.
ReplyDeleteI like your perspective. It seems I have to remind myself weekly that I cannot do everything so choose wisely. Hope you've enjoyed your fall break!
