This has been the hardest week I have had this semester. I have had more assignments this week than I have had since I started college. But I think I am going to make it. I am pretty sure I had a total of 18 assignments and put that together with my involvement in my church and on-campus organizations…My week has been BUSY.
I actually am spending the weekend in Tulsa OK. I just got here yesterday. I am visiting some friends that I stayed with two summers ago. I did an internship at a small church working with kids in the inner city. It really is an amazing ministry. It is awesome to me how God uses such a small group of people, with such small resources, in such a big way. The drop-out rate of high school kids in Tulsa is very high and what this ministry here does is tries to encourage kids to pursue a sport because statistically they are much more likely to graduate if they play a sport. And while teaching kids and youth how to play different sports they also teach them the Gospel. Some of the inner city children here in Tulsa live in very difficult homes with parents that are abusive, alcoholics, and simply don’t show their kids love. So what 1Hope ministries does is try to show kids that they love them, and they love God, and encourage them to love and get to know God. If any of you are interested in knowing more about this ministry they have a website called…onehopeministry.org.

I know how you feel...the work never ends! It sounds like you are doing good things with your life, though, so keep it up! It will all be worth it in the end! =)
ReplyDeleteI am glad this week is over. It was a busy week for me as well. You have your hands extremely full. It is great to hear that a young man such as yourself is so actively involved in the church and the community. Continue to let God use you to help others. Everything that you are dong will pay off.
ReplyDeleteFor every one assignment you have for me, I have to grade 22! Somehow, I don't think that's fair!

I think the organization is great! It reminds me of my church(Word of Life Center) and our outreach and missions programs. We do missions all over the world. We also have a outreach program where we go to the different neighborhoods in Shreveport to preach the word, feed the kids, and just bring cheer to the people in that area.
