What A Wonderful Week

This has been a wonderful week for a number of reasons!! First of all this is our last Blog that we have to post for this class…hmmm just when I was starting to enjoy it. Oh well! Yesterday I did my speech for my speech class, took a quiz this morning, and am about to finish up this paper hopefully.

I am heading to Baton Rouge tomorrow to go to the LSU game. This will be my first game and I am really looking forward to it. They are just playing Louisiana Tech but I got a really good deal on some good seats. I might have to post a few pictures on here and tell you guys all about it. (If I should post, clearly, it would be out of the goodness of my heart and for all of your enjoyment because, as I mentioned before, this is our last post! Haha) I am hoping this will be a good break to get away and relax a little before I have to come back and have test, papers and presentations to work on next week.

I have my Marketing Research test on Tuesday of next week. I have already been studying for it a little bit. I have my lowest grade in that class and I am going to need to bring my grade up a little bit with this test. Then if I am not mistaken we have a paper that is going to be due at the end of next week in this class. It really is amazing to me how much I have enjoyed this class because I usually do not enjoy English at all!! It really has been very enjoyable. After that, I have a presentation in my leadership class that I have to work on. I am not sure at all about how that is going to work…it is one of those group presentations and I am having a hard time figuring out how we should do it. But I think it will all come together nicely.

I hope you are all having an amazing week!!

Another Busy Week

This literary journalism paper that we are writing right now has been the hardest paper I have had for this course. I am just having the hardest time figuring out what to say. Hopefully it will come together in the next couple of days.

In the mean time, I have a few other things to keep me busy. But this is the last week I have to do discussion boards for my two online classes. That should give me a little extra time to study for a test I have coming up in Marketing 445. Then I have a speech coming up on Monday that I need to be working on. Then I have a few papers in 3 other classes that I have to write. This semester I can not quite figure out. It doesn’t seem like any of my classes should be way too hard, but with all of them together it seems like this is my hardest semester I have ever had. If I can make it through this semester with mostly A’s and B’s I will be pretty excited. And the future is looking bright. I just got advised for next semester and I am only going to be taking 12 hours. After taking 18 hours for the past 3 semesters it should be a really nice break. And it looks like my schedule is going to be Tuesday and Thursday afternoon class, a class on Wednesday night, a class on Thursday night, and then an online class. Sounds pretty great…4 day weekends every weekend…I’m sure I can find something to do.

The article that I chose from Slate Magazine was on a snorkeler's paradise. This article immediately caught my attention because I love snorkeling! I have had the opportunity to snorkel in one of the top ten places in the U.S. Snorkeling is an experience that is extremely hard to describe because it is hard to find words that can describe the beauty that you see. This article talks about catamarans and the freedom and pleasure that can be experienced in sailing the Caribbean. The whole lifestyle of sailing and yachts seems appealing to me. I think that I could probably get used to the idea of living like that. So one day when I have a yacht, I will have to let you all know if it is all that it is cracked up to be.

It is a wonderful Friday evening. I am just sitting here watching a movie with my little brother and sister. My parents went out of town for today and tomorrow so I am keeping my younger siblings. Tomorrow I am not sure what all is on the agenda. Hopefully we will be able to do some fun stuff. We will probably do some 4-wheeler riding, maybe a movie, who knows what else.

This week has absolutely flown by. We are almost finished with the ninth week of school. Only seven more weeks! I think I might be able to make it. Midterms went okay, I am sort of just glad that they are over. Haven’t gotten any grades back yet…so I guess I will have to wait to see about that part of it. I am somewhat ready for the semester to be over. But in the mean time I am just going to have to keep working on it.

What a Wonderful Day

It is hard to believe that the semester is halfway over. This has been the hardest semester I have ever had. I have not had very many tests, just several little assignments every week. But the future is looking bright. I will hopefully pass all my classes this semester. I only have two mid-terms to take this next week. So I should have a little time to study over fall break.

Isn’t it wonderful how when our plans don’t go the way we planned that we can know that God has a plan that is far better than the plan we had???I see this both in big things and small things in my life. Over the past few weeks I have known that I was entirely too busy and this past week I was trying to get a position in the Rotaract Club (a student organization at LSUS) as president. It seemed to me to be an excellent thing to be able to put on my resume. But, through a turn of events I didn’t get the position or any position for that matter. So without that option before me I can now focus on the things that I should have been focused on all along. It is so easy for us to get caught up in the immediate things and not think long-term. So for any of you reading this blog I would encourage you to take into consideration the things that you do and the decisions that you make. There are many things that are good to be doing and good to be involved in. But what we should want for our lives is what is BEST. We can’t do everything so we must be careful the things that we choose, and the decisions we make.

This week for a change I am not going to wait until the weekend to write my blog post. I am absolutely determined to start doing better with not waiting until the last minute to do everything. So this is my first attempt to not procrastinate. I know that Thursday afternoon isn’t doing a whole lot better but I am at least trying. I might not know what to do with myself without at least 20 things that I need to be doing. But right now it is a nice thought to think I could do nothing. I haven’t just had time to relax in a while. I know that there are a lot of people that just go, go, go all the time but I have feel like I need a break. My dad amazes me the way he never stops. Maybe it is just a need to manage my time better…That is a very likely. If any of you that read my blog might have any tips for me in this area I would be very appreciative.

I am sorry that my post are always so boring. I seriously am not the most boring person in the whole world, and I don't always complain. From now on I am going to try to start having a little more interesting post.

This is the first semester that I have procrastinated on everything. I usually don’t have too much of a problem with waiting until the last minute to do stuff because I like to be on top of everything and not get overloaded. I don’t think that it is I now don’t like to be on top of everything or that now I like to get overloaded. But I have simply overextended myself and have not quite gotten my schedule manageable yet. I am trying to get my first draft done for English but am having the hardest time even thinking of a topic. I guess I need to just start writing and see where I end up. It is looking like it is going to be another late night for me.

Today has been a very eventful day. This morning I went and picked up trash from 9:00-10:30 with the Rotaract Club. Then after that I went to the Providence house with 318LIVE and served lunch and just visited with people and played with kids. Grilled a lot of burgers and hotdogs and played a whole lot of basketball, soccer, frisbee, and football. It was a really great day! Then after all that I had to come home and mow my yard. Needless to say…I am extremely tired!! And now I need to try to pull together a draft!!!

This has been the hardest week I have had this semester. I have had more assignments this week than I have had since I started college. But I think I am going to make it. I am pretty sure I had a total of 18 assignments and put that together with my involvement in my church and on-campus organizations…My week has been BUSY.

I actually am spending the weekend in Tulsa OK. I just got here yesterday. I am visiting some friends that I stayed with two summers ago. I did an internship at a small church working with kids in the inner city. It really is an amazing ministry. It is awesome to me how God uses such a small group of people, with such small resources, in such a big way. The drop-out rate of high school kids in Tulsa is very high and what this ministry here does is tries to encourage kids to pursue a sport because statistically they are much more likely to graduate if they play a sport. And while teaching kids and youth how to play different sports they also teach them the Gospel. Some of the inner city children here in Tulsa live in very difficult homes with parents that are abusive, alcoholics, and simply don’t show their kids love. So what 1Hope ministries does is try to show kids that they love them, and they love God, and encourage them to love and get to know God. If any of you are interested in knowing more about this ministry they have a website called…onehopeministry.org.

It feels good to come to the end of the week and feel like you have accomplished a lot of things. And now the weekend is finally here. I never seem to get too much of a break over the weekend. Tomorrow I am going up to Texarkana and help some people with some rental properties they have up there. I’m not exactly sure what I have gotten myself into. I know it at least has got me getting up at 6 in the morning. I’m sure it will just be your typical old house clean up stuff…ripping out carpet, picking up trash, cleaning windows, yardwork, and things of that nature. Sometimes it is nice to not have to do work that requires you to really think, just some hard manual labor. I am not even sure how long I am supposed to help out. Might turn into an all-day-event. But then Sunday I will have church and maybe a few homework assignment after that. Then my week starts all over again. But it is a very nice thought to remember that this is the last semester that I am going to have to take 18 hours. It is just a short season of my life though, so I will enjoy every moment of it.

Saturday

It is Saturday already. It seems like the weeks are just flying by. We have already been in school for 3 weeks. Before we know it this semester will be over and Christmas will be here.

Autumn is one of my favorite times of year. The leaves are starting to change colors and fall to the ground, the air becoming crisp and cool, days where the rain drizzles down. Perfect weather to sit inside and read a book (or do homework…like now), or even go outside and ride 4-wheelers through the woods. Riding 4-wheelers sound like a little more fun right now. After I finish with all this homework I might do that. Or go ride my bike.

I am the type of person that likes to stay very active. Lately between school and work among other activities I haven't been able to work out, run, or ride my bike nearly as much as I would like. With the weather being as nice as it is I am going to have to start making time for those activities. Yesterday was my last day to work for a little while. I am taking 18 hours this semester so I told them I wasn't going to be able to work for this semester. Having an average of probably 15 assignments a week it makes it a little difficult to do all the things I would like to. But life is great and I wouldn't change a thing!
